When a bank repossesses a house, do they have to fill in a property information form when they come to sell it? If we’d bought our house in the normal way I imagine we’d have been alerted about a long-running dispute with a neighbour.
Banks do fill out property information forms, but the answers they give are likely to be even less informative than most. The words “Not Known” appear as frequently as not on forms supplied by an average house seller; in such cases however a buyer (or a buyer’s solicitor) can often deduce a potential problem from a failure to provide information in a particular area. However where a bank pleads ignorance it’s likely to be genuine.
