We want to put up a fence between our garden and next doors. I understand that the good side of the fence has to face the neighbouring property if it’s on the boundary line, but does this law still apply if the fence is completely on our side and doesn’t touch the boundary?
Most people fasten the fence to the far side of the posts so that the fence panels run along the boundary line. The neighbour will then see the good side, or at least the side without the posts. You’re quite at liberty to run the fence along the inside of the posts, but you may end up extending the width of your neighbours garden by the width of the fence posts.
