I want to sue a friend over some money that’s been spent on my credit cards, amounting to some £1500. How do I go about it?

I have to assume that this debt was run up with your permission and that you now want to put pressure on your friend to repay the loan: you are of course liable for the debts run up by someone who misuses your card if they had it with your knowledge or consent. As with all cases where you wish to recover money, the first question is: do they have any? There’s no point in suing anyone who hasn’t any funds with which to meet a court order. If your friend has a source of income you can start proceedings in the small claims court online if necessary. Your friend may of course claim the money was a gift.
