Areas of Law / Divorce and Family

I divorced my husband six years ago after years of mental and physical abuse. This involved violent assaults, and it has taken me six years to come to terms with it, but I am now prepared to take him to court. Would this be possible? I would have to fund the case myself.

If you haven’t sought some sort of counselling about this, you should probably do so. Probably the best you could achieve would be financial compensation (and you would only get that if your ex-husband has some money), which would be unlikely to give you much satisfaction. A case such as this may not be subject to a time limit, but the six years’ delay could make it very difficult for you to start proceedings. Ring Victim Support on 01254 680442.
