Areas of Law / General Legal Advice

I am single and went out with a widower for seven years until he died recently while we were on holiday abroad. I had several hundred pounds-worth of clothes and the like at his home, but his daughter says she wants nothing to do with me. Is there any way I can make her return my property?

You may be able to do more than that, depending on what sort of relationship (including financial relationship) you had. Under the family provision legislation you may be able to claim maintenance from your friend’s estate even though you weren’’t married. Discuss this with a solicitor: at the very least the prospect of a court case may persuade the daughter to take your request for the return of your property more seriously.
