Areas of Law / Divorce and Family

Do great-grandparents and grandparents have legal access to their great-grandchildren and grandchildren?

You don’t have an automatic right to see your grandchildren or great-grandchildren. But it’s possible the courts would support your right to see them, if it felt that it was important for the sake of the children involved, by granting you a contact order. If it came to this you would be advised to see a solicitor experienced in family law. It might be preferable to attempt to resolve the family difficulties which prevent you seeing them, perhaps through mediation, before turning to the courts for assistance.
