About 18 months ago I was knocked off my bike by a car. I’ve had 16 operations, and may eventually lose my leg above the knee. The driver has been convicted of driving without due care and attention. At the time I signed up with a claims franchise, which is charging 25% of any compensation. Is this appropriate?
Solicitors’ success fees are capped at 25 per cent of the damages by law. In the light of the potential value of your claim it may well be that 25% of your damages would be excessive. Clarify this with your solicitor and if you are still unclear go and see a local solicitor specialising in personal injury matters. You should probably have received an interim payment, since it sounds as though there will be little dispute over who was to blame for the accident.
