Areas of Law / Employment

I am over retirement age and work roughly 15 hours a week as a bus driver on contract runs and ferrying partygoers and wedding groups to and from. I understand part-time workers are entitled to holiday pay, but my employer has never mentioned it. Could you clarify my position?

You should discuss this with your employer. As a part-timer with irregular hours, a week’s holiday pay will be based on an average of what you earned over the previous 12 weeks. Your employment contract should say something about your entitlement to holidays. You will probably now tell me that you don’t have a contract. If that’’s the case, ask your employer for written terms and conditions of your employment.
