We have a service contract with the firm that sold us our TV set. We have paid into the scheme regularly for three years but when the set broke down it was five days before they came out to repair it. Are we entitled to compensation?
You will have to look at the terms of the service contract. The firm will probably have offered you free parts and labour on repairs but is also likely to have given you some sort of guarantee on the speed of their response when you report a fault. If they failed to keep a promise set out in the contract document you are entitled to compensation. It’s unlikely to be a sum worth going to court over, however.
