Areas of Law / Property

Seven years ago I sold a cottage and garden adjoining my own. Should I have some paperwork showing what was sold and what was retained? My solicitor said he’d sent me certain deeds three years after the sale, but I’ve no record of this.

An index map search at the Land Registry, which costs £4, should show the changes of ownership and any altered boundaries. You can do this online on the Land Registry website, or ask a solicitor to assist. Assuming you now have a new neighbour it suggests that the conveyance was carried out correctly!
