Areas of Law / Wills and Probate

My mother had a brother and a sister. Her brother died some time ago, and her sister died in April, leaving some money. We wondered what percentage of the sister’s money will go to my mother, and how much will go to the brother’s children?

It sounds as though your mother will receive half of the estate, with the brother’s children sharing the other half. I take it that your mother’s sister didn’t leave a will and had no husband or children of her own. Parents are next in line after spouses and children under intestacy rules, but if they are no longer alive then brothers and sisters inherit in equal shares. If one has died, that share passes to their children.
