Areas of Law / Debt matter

I paid £10,000 off the mortgage taken out by my son and his girlfriend. Their house has now been repossessed. Is there any way I can claim this money back from either of them?

Probably not, unless your son and his girlfriend signed something to suggest that the money was a loan. If their house has been repossessed it sounds as though they don’t have any money with which to repay you in any case. However if there is some equity in the house, ie your son and his girlfriend receive a cash sum when the property is sold, then it may be worth considering whether you have grounds for trying to recover the money paid.
