I missed several payments to a credit company. They closed the account and sent my name to a credit reference agency, but I still have to make payments before court proceedings take place. Can they send these details to a credit reference agency before taking formal proceedings?
It’s most unlikely your case will go to court as long as you keep paying off the debt, but credit reference agencies don’t just keep records of court judgments against you. They keep details of credit accounts you have held over the last six years with organisations which contribute to their database. If your credit firm is one of these, your file will now show up your poor repayment record so that other people can decide whether to lend you money.
