I intend to buy a law book and wondered if you could recommend a reasonably-priced and easily understandable publication.
There are several good general guides, including the Law Express series, which are of course mainly aimed at students. However that’s just what they are – general guides, dealing with broad principles of the law. The other problem with layman’s law books is that the law changes so quickly these days that they’re almost out of date before they reach the bookshelves. If you’re tempted to trawl the internet, check the date (and source!) of any material you’re reading. No single book, website, or even a single solicitor, can give you a complete guide to the law. Any law book worth its salt will recommend that you seek expert advice before embarking on legal action.
