Areas of Law / Landlord and Tenant Law

I had a dispute with the council over an Empty Property Premium. It went to tribunal and won the case, but I am now out of pocket through loss of earnings, fees and transport. There was also 18 months of stress. Can you advise?

Unfortunately the Valuation Tribunal cannot award costs. You don’t say what fees you incurred, but the tribunal is a free service where hearings usually last no more than a day. Normally it would only cost you your time unless you chose to be represented by a solicitor or other professional. However if it saved you paying an extra 50% on top of your council tax, or led to a reduction or exemption from the tax  altogether it was time well spent.
