I bought a car from a large dealership, but after seven weeks the gearbox packed up. Could you tell me my rights, because the dealership is refusing to do any repairs?

Your rights will depend on the age and mileage of the car, how much you paid for it, and how it was described to you. I presume it didn’t come with a warranty. In that case, if the car is more than a couple of years old and was “sold as seen” you probably won’t have any claim on the dealership even after only seven weeks. You do have the right to return goods with “latent defects” in the first six months. However the fact that you drove away from the dealership would suggest that the gearbox was working when you bought the car.
