Divorce and Family Questions

I want to sell our house but my husband doesn’’t. We have no children or dependants. What’’s the legal position?

I asked about legal aid to seek contact with my grand-daughter but was told that it is no longer available in this type of case. We are on a very low income. Can we take this to court ourselves?

I have been divorced nearly two years, and am coming under increasing pressure from my ex-wife to sell the house, which is in my sole name. Do I have to do this?

I bought a house jointly with my fiancé, putting down a deposit of £6,000. I never actually moved in and we split up six months later. I gave him the option of buying me out, and when nothing happened I insisted it was put on the market but he’’s making no effort to sell.

In 2004 my ex-husband was ordered to pay me maintenance of £30 a week. He has now left the army and has stopped paying the money. Am I still entitled to maintenance?

My mother had the opportunity of buying her council house at a reasonable price, but because of her financial situation my husband pays the mortgage. If at any time my mother had to be taken into care will my husband have any claim on the house, or would it have to be sold to pay the fees?

My brother left his wife and two children six months ago. His wife changed all the locks and says she is going to divorce him. Although my brother has been paying the mortgage since they separated the wife says he’’s lost all rights to the house. Is this correct?

My wife was treated very badly by her son during the 17 years she lived alone following the death of her first husband but after our marriage my son-in-law and his wife crept back into favour. I welcomed it at first, but unfortunately there now seems to be no place for me. Does such a thing as “alienation of affections” still exist in law?

When my divorce was finalised my husband was ordered to pay me part of the lump sum he is due to receive with his pension when he retires in three years’ time. If he dies, or I remarry before that time, will I still be entitled to this money?
