Areas of Law / Wills and Probate

Where can I get hold of a copy of my cousin’s will, and what would the cost be?

The easiest way is to search for the will online at www.gov.uk/search-will-probate. There’s a £10 fee. Alternatively write to the Postal Searches and Copies Dept, Leeds District Probate Registry, York House, York Place, Leeds LS1 2BA. Say that you would like a copy of the grant and the will, and provide the full name, address, and date of death of the deceased and enclose a cheque for £10.00 made payable to HM Courts & Tribunals Service. Note that probate may not have been necessary where small sums are involved or where property or cash is held in joint names. However if probate has been granted and the deceased left a will you will be able to see it.
