My daughter who is four pulled a heavy stool over on to herself while we were in a travel shop. She had to have four stitches in the cut she received to her eye, which we’re told will leave a scar. Do we have a claim against the shop owners?

There’s a rumour going round that I’m gay, which has resulted from the fact that I share a house with another man and don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t know who started the rumour but it’s causing problems at work. Is there any way of putting a stop to it?

I sold a car to a businessman whom I knew at least by reputation, so when he gave me a cheque for £3,000 I believed it would be sound, However, the bank returned the cheque four days later saying there wasn’’t enough money in the account. I have telephoned the businessman and written three letters: how can I get my money?

Some months ago several of my employees were involved in a road accident in a company vehicle during working time. The insurers of the other vehicle are proposing to pay them only the difference between their normal earnings and their sick pay. This means I will have borne most of the cost of the accident through the sick pay I have had to pay out.

When my aunt died I notified the housing department the following day and asked if any rent was owed on her council bungalow. They told me she was on full housing benefit and the rent was up to date, however as executor of her estate I’ve since received a bill for more than £225 for the period from her death to the date I handed the keys back some three weeks later.

A friend stores caravans in a field for an annual fee. One van has been there since he bought the field three years ago, and no-one knows who the owner is. I would like to buy it, but does my friend have the right to sell it to claim his fees?
